A Tale of Two Families...
Brandon and Michelle and her daughter Ella, together with Jean Paul and Jane and their daughter Bella, are the families of Ella Bella Farm in Corralitos on 30-acres along Corralitos Creek. Brandon Ross has been farming organically in Santa Cruz County and the Capay Valley for the past ten years, where in 1996 he founded Cache Creek Organics, a diverse 300-acre farm. Michelle O'Hearn is a former restauranteur and exceptional cook. After farming locally for three years, Jean Paul McDaniel founded Sadie's Farm in 1994, specializing in dry-farm tomatoes. Jane Freedman was the Garden Director of Santa Cruz's Homeless Garden Project for three years, and then founded Dirty Girl Produce in 1996. Our families feel blessed to be working together and sharing our passion for farming and cooking with you.

...and Two Climates
The majority of Veggie Box's certified organic vegetables come from Ella Bella Farm, located in the temperate climate of the Central Coast, which produces the world's finest strawberries, fingerling potatoes and leafy greens. Complementary seasonal items come from the Capay Valley, where intense summer heat, deep fertile soil, and cold winter nights are ideal for growing peaches, nuts, melons, heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, and peppers. We are excited to be working closely with our former neighbors at Full Belly Farm and RiverDog Farm to provide you with the best of both worlds in one box!

Fully Experienced...
We have been in the farming, produce, and restaurant business for the past fifteen years. We have sold our produce at farmer's markets in San Francisco, Berkeley, Marin and Los Gatos. Working with some of the Bay Area's finest chefs, our produce has been served at restaurants such as Chez Panisse, Olivetto's, and Sensovi. Now we are pleased to be putting it all into Veggie Box for you!
|
...and Fully Committed
We aim to enable small farmers to continue to grow their food with integrity and to provide people with produce in the most direct way possible. We strongly believe that the stewardship of the land is just as important as the food we grow. By maintaining the quality of the soil, we can leave a fertile legacy to Ella, Bella, and future generations.
